It is estimated that ninety five percent of affiliate marketers fail. “Why?” Having been in this game for a little over two years, I have come to the conclusion, very few aspiring affiliates are willing to invest money in their pursuit to affiliate stardom.

Many individuals believe they will succeed with commitment alone. Unfortunately, this is not the case. There are some stories of individuals making a fortune with little or no cash investment. This is the minority rather than the majority.

With this in mind, lets focus on the majority!

To be in with a chance there is a need to invest capital into any affiliate program you choose to represent. Lets look at the bigger picture! Internet business or High Street Business? There is no difference in the two when it comes to setting up a business. Both require capital investment. Internet businesses operate in the same way as Hight Street businesses in so far as start up capital is required, therefore it is necessary to invest money to get a return.

Looking at the now familiar '30 Day FREE Trial!' Is this a good thing or bad thing? In the short term it is a good thing. It allows an individual to build a list, which we are constantly told is the most important aspect of making money online. There may be some truth in the list being 'the best thing since sliced bread', unfortunately the 30 Day Free Trial appears to attract the affiliate marketer who has little or no intention of investing in the product / service once the trial period ends, unless they have had some sort of success within that time frame. In the long term you have gained a contact who may be of little or no value to you in the future.

In recent weeks I signed up to a pre-launch program without any investment due to it's pre-launch status. The program details the top recruiters and the numbers they have recruited. On googling the names on the leader board, all the recruiters from the very top to the bottom are seasoned affiliate marketers, who have the provisions and contacts to be where they are pre-launch.

Success in this game is down to individuals being prepared to invest the capital required to be a fulltime member of the program/s they choose to represent. It is unfortunate that people sign up to free trial programs, with no intention, or not having the means to pursue the program past the trial period. This creates frustration from the loyal affiliate (sponsor) who is doing everything in their power to succeed and will continue to invest in the program until they come to a stage where their time and effort begins to catch up with them in the form of losing money instead of making money. At this point there is no alternative, but to quit.

Unfortunately, the mentality of the majority of affiliates is to quit without giving the program a chance. The ideal situation and a no brainer would be if all affiliates

Made a three to six month personal committment following the trial period
Not signing up to a program that is beyond their means

If these two basic rules were adhered to by all affiliate marketers, the percentage of successful affiliates would increase dramatically. The 30 day Free Trial Period should be used as a means to familiarise the new affiliate to the program.

Affiliate marketers are drowning in information but starved for knowledge

It's common knowledge, 95% of all Affiliate Marketers fail, due to unscrupulous predators operating in the industry. The majority of affiliate programs are built from the ground up, making the owner of the program outrageously rich along with a select few known as super affiliates, who appear to share the majority of wealth created. The ordinary man and woman are left to share a tiny percentage of the profits generated, having worked long hours along with investing money in the programs.

It's unfortunate, affiliate marketing is tainted with this image. Therefore it is necessary that the 95% of affiliates who form the backbone of the industry, realize that as a concerned group they can rid the industry of the unscrupulous predators, cleaning up the industry once and for all.

This is easier said than done, but is not as difficult as you might think. Surfing Exchanges: Internet Explorer Browser -V- Firefox Mozilla Browser ?

In my search for a reliable browser for surfing the traffic exchanges, I have come to the conclusion , there is only one, Firefox Mozilla.

The Firefox Web Browser is the faster, more secure, and fully customizable way to surf the web. It out performes Internet Explorer completely.

The Internet Explorer experience is one of constant freezing, frame breaks, warnings about viruse threats (which is a good thing, but deal with it!) and having to reboot your computer on a regular basis. It is not equipped for power surfing and the time lapse between frames is not conducive to the power surfer.

Firefox is a more superior browser with less time spent on having to recover pages. The security systems in place minimise exposure to viruses (and deals with it there and then), which if you don't keep your security software upto date, you'r asking for trouble.

At the moment I am surfing 12 manual exchanges and three auto surf exchanges at the same time. I have book marked all of the exchanges together in a group, and with the press of a button they all appear in my browser, enabling me to surf all at the same time. Surfing is normally smooth, but if a glitch appears, the Firefox recovery system applies itself immediately. Sometimes recovery is not possible and you will automatically exit firefox, but when you re-enter you will be given the choice to recover the last session or to commence a new session. Recovering your last session is good. You can recommence your surfing. This process sounds time consuming, honestly it's two minutes max.

Communication is the ability to project your business to the Internet audience. As mentioned previously, not developing your communication skills will mean not developing your business.

On line communication is the ability to effectively market your goods/services. There are several strategies out there that will reach your potential audience and get them to buy online such as SEO, Pay per click programs, Google AdSense, Traffic Exchanges and many more.

At this point I am going to concentrate on traffic exchanges. This is a cost effective way of advertising (free advertising) and is a way of getting your goods/services exposure to potential customers. There are many traffic exchanges out there and they all work in much the same way.

* You must sign up to become a member (this is free). You then submit your URL (address of your web site) to the traffic exchange.

* In order to activate your account you need to surf so many web pages (normally 25 - 50) through the traffic exchange.

* Number of pages to surf depends on the traffic exchange.

* For every page you surf you will be awarded credits. All pages are on a timer. The timer can range from 6, 10, 15, 20,30 and up to 40 seconds. The longer the timer the greater the credit ratio reward.

* The current ratios in use for free members by the majority of exchanges are in the range of 3:1(for every three pages surfed the award is 1 credit) or 2:1 (for every two pages surfed the award is 1 credit). This will depend on the exchange.

Every step you take is a step nearer to ahieving your goal. You need to be clear from the start about the direction your about to take. It is very important to remain focused, and not to get side tracked. If you have clear and concise objectives from the beginning, believe you me, it will make things allot easier in the long run. It's very important you have an interest in the product/service you intend to market. Enjoy what your doing, be passionate about it!

Don't be in a hurry to get started. As I mentioned in a previous posting do your research. Make sure you can visualise your path from beginning to end. Know what's expected of you? Outline your plan of action and them make the commitment to start the ball rolling.

As with all new business ventures, the early stages will involve allot of time and commitment. Make sure you are in a position to commit and apply the time required. There is no point going any further if you cannot meet these basic elements. Time management is very important. You will need to set up a time schedule and stick by it.

One of the first things you need to acquire is a new email account. There are many free email service providers out there. Gmail, AIM Mail, Yahoo! Mail, Windows Live Hot Mail
to name but a few. I would recommend Gmail a service provided by Google. It has so much more to offer than any of the other free email services.

Once you set up your email account your main focus will be, how to attract prospects/leads (customers) to your business? Customers are the backbone of any business, be it online or offline. If you don't attract customers, you have no business. Your future is in your list!

With this in mind, once you begin to create your list you will require an effective and efficient means of communication. At this point I would like to introduce the auto-responder. You may be asking yourself what is an auto-responder? An auto-responder is a feature that sends an automated reply to incoming email. For example, when customers send email to your sales@yourdomain.com address, a standard message would be sent back to them. This is a very basic description of an auto-responder. Don't mistake the power of the auto-responder, your business cannot function without one. It introduces consistency into your business and frees up valuable time.

To summarise

* Choose the product/service you feel comfortable marketing.
* Do your research.
* Your plan of action.
* Commitment and time management.
* Set up a new email account.
* Attracting customers (Marketing)

Get Rich Quick Schemes - What You Must Know?

There is no such thing as a get rich quick scheme out there. If there are, unfortunately I have not come across them. As in any business opportunity you have to be willing to invest time and cash to get a return. OK, I mentioned in a previous post about me personally investing time and money and not getting a return. These were bad decisions I made. You need to research your choices and be reasonably sure it's for you. There are no 100% guarantees for anything in life.

That's why it's so important to understand completely what you are entering into. Some affiliate programs advertise, no basic Internet skills required. They have plug in sites that do everything for you. To be honest, I have tried several of these programs, without success. Experience opens your eyes, and with experience you will make better decisions.

That's why it is necessary to have a good understanding of the mechanics of any program you sign up to. If you don't understand, don't touch. How can I explain this better? OK. Are you able to visualise the process to get from beginning to end? If you answer no, stay clear.

Visualisation is very important. It gives you a road map in your head on how to achieve what is required of you. If you are unable to link the beginning to the end, there is no point even considering this option.

Time Out

Following on from my initial experiences in the home based business industry, I decided to take some time out and reflect on the decisions I had made. Were they good decisions? No they were not . As I mentioned in my previous post I was blinkered and lead by the lure of instant success.

I now realise everything comes with a price. Having learned from my experience, I have gathered my thoughts together and am now approaching the home based business industry with eyes wide open. Every experience in life is a learning curve. How you take this on board determines what sort of an individual you are. If you look at it as a positive learning experience you will put it behind you, and not make the same mistake in the future.

I have re-focused and have never felt more positive and enthusiastic in my new approach. I have worked on improving my computer skills and grasping the basics of how affiliate programs operate.

With this new found attitude, I have embarked on searching for an affiliate program that suits my current needs and requirements. My main focus at this point is to take one step at a time, to devote my effort and time to one and only one program. I have found a really nice program that I feel good about. I understand the mechanics of the program, which I feel is very important. Understanding allows you to know what direction to take and also if it is worthwhile pursuing. I will come back to this at a later stage.

There are literally millions of home based business ideas out there, offering you the sun, moon, and stars. Unfortunately, many of these are scams, willing to take your hard earned cash and your precious time, leading you down a garden path with almost nothing to show at the end of it.

My first few months of testing, left me burnt on every occasion. I was blinkered by all the promises of instant wealth, and like a fish to bait took the hook. I spent thousands of euro on so-called promises without making a cent in return.

I am not here to dish the dirt on the schemes I signed up to, but to guide newbies in the right direction, and not make the mistakes I made.

Allot of home based business opportunities are based around affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing comprises of the mother company providing goods or services for sale. The mother company recruit individuals (affiliates)to promote and market their goods or services, paying a commission to the affiliate for each and every sale agreed. Commissions vary from company to company and normally involve developing and maintaining a down line (The collection of all people signed up underneath an individual on which the individual receives payment on their sales) in order to be successful. This is easier said than done.

Recruitment into affiliate networks is usually enticing (the world is your oyster) with minimal charge to become a member. They forget to inform you, before signing up, and once inside, the program will only work if you sign up to other affiliate networks, who also charge a monthly fee for the service they provide (we are talking large fees on a monthly basis). I do believe, in order to make money you need to invest some money and time to be successful. Unfortunately, most affiliate companies are working together to increase their wealth with little, or very little prospect of anyone else profiting.

They say 3% of Internet marketers make it big the remaining 97% fight over whats left.

As the blog name suggests, this site is especially for newbies entering the home based business industry.

It's a little over a year since I developed an interest in trying my hand at entering into the home based business world. I had basic computer skills and very limited understanding of what was involved in becoming successful on the internet.

It was very daunting and overwhelming having little or no knowledge about what to do. I have decided to impart the knowledge I have gained so far, to try and make it that little bit easier for newbies entering into the home based business industry.

I am no expert by any means, but would like to take any newbie interested, on my journey to developing a successful home based business.
